What an amazing guy

Dear friend!

The nomination “What an amazing guy” is dedicated to the Italian soldier Ferdinand Pascolo – the pseudonym “Silla” comes from Friuli, who fought on Russian territory, and then, on the side of guerrilla resistance against fascism in Italy.

In the novel, the author describes his personal life until the last days of World War II. The story of “Silla” is full of humanity, nobility and altruism, despite the historical context and political criticism of the war, where the other side is a clear enemy.

Ferdinand Pascolo in his book does not talk about hostilities, but tells how he managed to feed and satisfy the basic needs of soldiers during this difficult war time.

The war ended, the author looked at the world in a new way, with the realization that his world belongs only to his family.
Pretty weapons. Enough wars. Pretty torture. Frostbite. Hanged. Of death.

A family. Job. That’s all.
Words from the book are included in the UN resolution “Against the Glorification of Fascism” and are carved on a tablet in the Queen of the World Church (Italy, Redipulia).
